Hello everyone! Happy March! This March is a particularly special one. It's almost my 23rd birthday (beware the Ides of March!), and I'm making the big move to Nashville, TN, to get to work with my new band, Doubtful Guest. I've been going through some extreme life changes, so thank you all for sticking around and bearing with me through it all. Thank you all especially for your kind words and condolences regarding my father, Alan, who passed away January 21st. I know you guys all know how close we were, and it's definitely been the hardest thing I've faced yet in my life. Despite the hardship, I am making room for plenty of adjustments and getting ready for the next part of my career.

While in Nashville, I will start rehearsing with Sammy, Tommy, Peter and Tony for our first show at 12th & Porter on March 27th (which is also my Grammie's birthday AND a full moon!). This will be our first show, and it's being put together through our efforts on Kickstarter (see http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/raineman/doubtful-guest for more info and to see how you can help!) Our campaign launched on Feb 22nd, which was also Edward Gorey's birthday (did you SEE Google that day?!). We took that as a good sign, since The Doubtful Guest is one of his most famous books, and the guest himself was featured in Google's tribute! What an honor and privilege to get to use the name! (Gorey fans fear not- I promise we will ALWAYS use the utmost care and discretion when it comes to honoring and celebrating his life and work!) While working on the Kickstarter video, we were able to bring Sammy to see the Elephant House, Gorey's abode-turned-museum, for himself, which was quite a trip for him!  I'm wicked excited about working with him and the rest of the guys, I grew up watching them on MTV! I'm also thrilled for the potential of other projects to work on while I'm down south. There are so many things I'm planning on doing along with Doubtful Guest!  I will certainly be looking forward to more studio time, and once the band is rehearsed and ready to go, keep an ear out for some original DG tracks as well!

Before leaving for TN, I released Old Cape Cod, my first vinyl 45, which was a tribute to the late Patti Page.  The B-side is my song Pure Inspiration, which I wrote about my experiences with bullies in school. $10 from each record is being donated to establish a fund along with Cape & Islands United Way that will provide support for Cape Cod schools to host the Challenge Day program. I cannot begin to express my mirth over the establishment of this fund! It has been a dream of mine since attending a Challenge Day myself in high school. I went to a rather large school, and I realized the importance of providing the program for ALL the students, not just some. In my opinion, Challenge Day is the single most effective tool to stop bullying for good. I firmly believe that if every child in the country attended the Challenge Day program early enough in their life, we would change the world. (side note: PLEASE go watch Bully, the documentary film that came out last April, if you haven't yet!) This cause will never cease to be important to me. Besides having dealt with regular old-fashioned bullying in school, I still deal with different kinds of bullies nearly every day! EVERYONE is impacted by bullying, not just children. It has too much to do with faults in our culture, the terrible behaviors we promote. Keep checking back here to see how you can help develop this charity. May I be so bold to say that I aspire to grow it into a fund for all of New England, and eventually the whole country! It costs roughly $6,000 for one school to host Challenge Day for two days, which serves only about 200 students. I've never been a math whiz, but it looks like we've got our work cut out for us!

We are already booking shows for the spring and summer for Doubtful Guest! Keep checking back here for tour dates and info, and feel free to tweet me about your favorite 90s rock songs and what venues you'd like to see us play at! Thank you to everyone who has already participated in our Kickstarter campaign, and if you haven't yet, please give it a look! There are many ways you can help, even if it's just by telling your friends! We promise we will make it worth your while!

Thanks for checking in, stay tuned for more. Oh, and have a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Much Love,
Siobhan
